History

Apata Limited takes its name from the local region where our story first started, back in 1983, when several local growers joined forces to establish the original coolstore operation on the Turntable Hill Road site at Apata, which is halfway between Katikati and Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty.

A packhouse followed two years later, and over the years the site has been further developed with more coolstores being added.  A second packhouse was built in 2000, to focus on Gold kiwifruit, and a pre-sorter and infra-red technology were installed in 2004, to improve fruit handling and output results for our growers.

Coolstore 8 was built in 2009, as the company further expands on its large 8 hectare site at Apata.

Apata has invested over $15m at the Turntable site in the last four years, to further improve our service capability and capacity.
