Erin makes it a three-peat!
We were absolutely thrilled to announce that Erin Atkinson, our Mends Lane based Technical Advisor, took out the Bay of Plenty Young Fruit Grower of the Year tonight. After having competed at the weekend in seven events ranging from an accountancy exam through to tractor driving, Erin was one of six competitors who participated in a quiz and gave a three-minute speech to an audience of 350 people on her vision of the Horticulture industry in 10 years. Erin won two of the events outright - the KVH questionnaire and the tractor.
Suffice to say; we are incredibly proud of Erin who will now go on and compete in the National Young Grower of the Year competition.
Erin, in her usual humble fashion, thanked Apata for its support and we hope you will celebrate with her next time you see her.
Incidentally, this is the third year in a row that an Apata staff member has won this competition. Let’s hope some of you reading this will be amongst next year’s competitors!
